SC 190 Skilled Nominated Visa Requirements

To qualify for SC 190 visa, applicants need to meet the following requirements:

  • be aged between 18 and 44 years;
  • nominate an occupation on relevant skilled occupation list;
  • have positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation;
  • score at least 65 points on General Skilled Migration points table;
  • meet health, character and English language requirements;
  • submit Expression of Interest (EOI) for SC 190 visa;
  • meet the state criteria and submit nomination application;
  • if you are nominated, you will receive nomination approval and your EOI will be selected from the pool;
  • upon selection of EOI, you will receive Invitation To Apply (ITA) for SC 190 Visa;
  • apply for Skilled Nominated Visa within 60 days from receiving the ITA.

SC 190 Nomination Process

Each of the 6 states and 2 territories have prescribed criteria for nomination. Besides meeting the requirements mentioned above, applicants for SC 190 visa have to also meet the prescribed nomination criteria to secure nomination. Nomination process is as under:

  • submit the EOI for the SC 190 visa under SkillSelect;
  • submit EOI to the state or territory agency expressing your interest for nomination;
  • if selected, state will invite you to apply for nomination;
  • submit nomination application with all documents including a commitment to live and work for 2 years in the nominating state;
  • nomination application will be processed and upon approval, you will receive
    • email confirming your nomination;
    • simultaneously, your SC 190 EOI will be withdrawn from the pool and you will receive Invitation To Apply for SC 190 visa.

    SC 190 Visa Estimated Processing Time

    States and Territories conduct nomination selection rounds periodically. Upon nomination, you submit your SC 190 visa application. Currently, 90% applications are processed within 19 months. Actual processing times may vary as it depends upon several factors including:

    • the workload at the processing office
    • processing priorities set by the government
    • submission of incomplete application
    • time taken by the applicant to submit additional documents requested, if any
    • time taken by third party for verification of documents, required if any
    • health and/or character issues, if any.

    Generally, fully completed applications submitted with all documents are processed quickly.

    Visa Application Charges (VAC) and Other Costs

    There is no fee to submit the Expression of Interest. Most states and territories also do not charge fees for State Nomination application. The Visa Application Charge (VAC), is as under:

    • Main Applicant - A$ 4,770
    • Each additional Applicant aged 18 years and above - A$2,385
    • Each additional applicant aged under 18 years - A$1,190

    VAC is payable at the time of submission of the SC 190 visa application, that is after you are nominated and your visa application is approved. Besides VAC, applicants need to factor in the following additional costs, as applicable:

    • Skils Assessment - Each skills assessing authority has different fees for assessment;
    • Qualifications Assessment,if required (not all qualifications need to be assessed)
    • Costs of Passport, Photo, Medical Examination, Police Certificate and for certifying documents
    • Flight Tickets
    • Migration Agent Fees if you appoint a registered immigration consultant.
