NEW ZEALAND WORK VISA

Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
Migrant workers with a job offer and job token from an accredited employer with approved job check can apply for the Accredited Employer Work Visa. The following is the application process for migrant workers to apply for AEWV:
- provide Job Token received from your proposed employer;
- signed Offer of Employment;
- copy of the Employment Agreement;
- evidence of your qualifications;
- work references;
- curriculum vitae;
- medical reports;
- police clearance.
Your qualifications and experience must match the details provided by the employer in Job Check application. If you have provided evidence of your qualifications and/or work references with a previous work visa application, you do not need to provide the same again. Similarly if you have a valid medical report or police certificate submitted with previous application, you do not need to provide it again
MARKET RATE FOR AEWV
Your job should pay atleast the ongoing market rate in NZ for that occupation. Market rate is determined based on published figures from a number of sources.
VISA VALIDITY PERIOD
AEWV will be granted for the duration of your employment subject to a maximum of 3 to 5 years depending upon the ANZSCO skill level and other factors.
CARE WORKFORCE & TRANSPORT SECTOR WORK VISA
This visa is for workers having a full-time job offer in any one of the following care workforce or transport sector jobs:
- Aged or Disabled Carer
- Nursing Support Worker
- Personal Care Assistant
- Residential Care Officer
- Disabilities Services Officer
- Child or Youth Residential Care Assistant
- Diversional Therapist
- Therapy Aide
- Māori Health Assistant — Kaiawhina (Hauora)
- Ship's Master
- Deck Hand
POST STUDY WORK VISA
Post-study work visa provides an opportunity to international students to gain valuable work experience after completing their qualification in New Zealand. It also opens up the possibility of securing residence visa to students seeking to settle in New Zealand through study-to-work-to residence pathway.
Eligibility for Post-study Work Visa
If you applied for student visa on or after 12 May 2022, you must:
- have an Acceptable Qualification; and
- meet Requirements for grant of post-study work visa
Acceptable Qualifications
You must have the following qualifications:
- Any degree or higher qualification at Level 7 or above studied full-time in New Zealand for at least 30 weeks;
- An eligible qualification at Level 4 to 7 (non-degree), studied full-time in New Zealand for the entire duration required to obtain the qualification.
Requirements to be met for Grant of Post-study Work Visa
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be granted post-study work visa:
- have successfully completed the qualification for which student visa was granted;
- must apply within 3 months (6 months for Doctoral qualification) after the end of the student visa for that qualification;
- have at least $5,000 funds to maintain themselves;
- must not have been previously granted post-study work visa.
OPEN WORK VISA FOR PARTNERS
Partners and dependant children of:
- student visa holders studying in New Zealand for Level 7 or 8 qualification on the LTSSL or any qualification at Level 9 or 10; or
- work visa holders having Talent or Essential Skills work visa.
Partners may qualify for open work visa and can work for any employer in any position. Dependent children may qualify for student visa or visitor visa depending on their age. Partners and dependent children visas are valid for the duration of their partner's work or student visa.
SPECIAL WORK VISAS
The following special work visas are available to citizens of the following countries:
- Thai Chefs Work Visa;
- China Special Work Visa;
- Vietnam Special Work Visa;
- Indonesia Special Work Visa;
- Philippines Special Work Visa;
- Japanese Interpreters Work Visa;
- Republic of Korea Work Visa; and
- Singapore Work Exchange Programme Visa.
