NEW ZEALAND WORK VISA

Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
Migrant workers with a job offer from an accredited employer with approved job check can apply for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWC). The following is the application process for migrant workers to apply for Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV Visa):
- provide Job Token received from your proposed employer;
- signed Offer of Employment;
- copy of the Employment Agreement;
- evidence of your qualifications;
- work references;
- curriculum vitae;
- medical reports;
- police clearance.
Your qualifications and experience must match the details provided by the employer in Job Check application. If you have provided evidence of your qualifications and/or work references with a previous work visa application, you do not need to provide the same again. Similarly if you have a valid medical report or police certificate submitted with previous application, you do not need to provide it again
AEWV VISA VALIDITY PERIOD
Accredited Employer Work Visa will be granted for the duration of your employment subject to a maximum of 3 years.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AEWV VISA IS GRANTED
After your Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is granted:
- you must complete all of the Employment New Zealand online employee modules on employment rights within one month of starting your employment. Modules have to be completed within paid work hours and your Employer has to provide time for you to complete the modules
- you need to receive from your Employer work related Settlement Information such as assistance with getting IRD number, industry training and qualifications options, specific job hazards, accommodation options, transport options, cost of living, access to health care services, Citizens Advice Bureau Services, information about relevant community groups.
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA
This visa is for pioneering Investors and Entrepreneurs to create, support and incubate ventures that result in positive global impact. There are 400 places over a period of 4 years. This visa provides pathway to securing residence.
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA APPLICATION STAGES
Global Impact work visa application is to be made in 2 stages:
- In the first stage, submit application and be accepted in Edmund Hillary Foundation (applications are currently closed);
- After acceptance into Edmund Hillary Foundation, apply for Global Impact Work Visa.
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA CRITERIA
Applicants for Global Impact Work Visa must:
- have a letter of acceptance from the Edmund Hillary Foundation;
- have maintenance funds of NZ $36,000 to support self and family for the 1st year in New Zealand;
- meet English language, health and character requirements;
- be a Fit and Proper person.
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA APPLICATION FEE
Application fee for Global Impact Visa is NZ $635
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA ESTIMATED PROCESSING TIME
The estimated processing time is 4 months.
GLOBAL IMPACT WORK VISA VALIDITY
Global Impact Work Visa is granted for 36 months.
PATHWAY TO RESIDENCE
Global Impact Work Visa provides pathway to residence. You can apply for residence after remaining on the Edmund Hillary Foundation for 30 months.
ENTREPRENEUR WORK VISA
This is a points based visa granted for 3 years to establish and manage your business in New Zealand. After successfully managing your business for either six months or two years, you can apply for residence visa under Entrepreneur Resident Visa category. For details, visit Entrepreneur Visa page.
POST STUDY WORK VISA
Effective from 7 September 2022, the requirements including duration for the grant of post-study work visa to international students completing acceptable qualifications after studying in New Zealand have changed. For details visit Post Study Work Visa page.
OPEN WORK VISA FOR PARTNERS
Partners and dependant children of:
- student visa holders studying in New Zealand for Level 7 or 8 qualification on the LTSSL or any qualification at Level 9 or 10; or
- work visa holders having Talent or Essential Skills work visa.
Partners may qualify for open work visa and can work for any employer in any position. Dependent children may qualify for student visa or visitor visa depending on their age. Partners and dependent children visas are valid for the duration of their partner's work or student visa.
SPECIAL WORK VISAS
The following special work visas are available to citizens of the following countries:
- Thai Chefs Work Visa;
- China Special Work Visa;
- Vietnam Special Work Visa;
- Indonesia Special Work Visa;
- Philippines Special Work Visa;
- Japanese Interpreters Work Visa;
- Republic of Korea Work Visa; and
- Singapore Work Exchange Programme Visa.
