NEW ZEALAND PARENT BOOST VISITOR VISA

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PARENT BOOST VISITOR VISA

To qualify for this visa, parents must meet the following requirements

• be outside New Zealand when applying and when the visa is granted
• must not have any dependent children
• be sponsored by an adult child who is a NZ resident or citizen
• have acceptable insurance for the entire duration of stay in NZ
• you have sufficient funds or income to support your stay in NZ or your sponsor or sponsors must meet the income requirements
• must be a genuine visitor and retain links with your home country
• meet character and health requirements

AFTER RECEIVING APPROVAL IN PRINCIPLE

If you meet these criteria, your Parent Boost Visitor Visa application will be Approved in Principle(AIP) and you will receive AIP. Upon receiving the AIP, you will need to:

• provide evidence of acceptable insurance for 12 months
• sign a declaration confirming that you
• understand the Parent Boost Visitor Visa is for a temporary stay only
• will follow all visa conditions
• will leave New Zealand before your visa expires
• if you or your sponsor do not comply, your visa could be cancelled and you may face deportation

AFTER YOUR VISA IS APPROVED

Upon submission of evidence of insurance and signing the declaration, your visa will be approved and you must:

• arrive in New Zealand within 6 months of visa approval;
• you can stay in New Zealand for 5 years from date of your arrival;
• you and your partner can jointly or individually travel in and out of NZ any number of times during this 5 year period
• after 3 years you will need to leave New Zealand and complete a compliance check including:
• submitting a new medical certificate;
• providing evidence that insurance has been maintained during your stay in NZ

PARENT BOOST VISA VALIDITY AND RENEWAL

The visa is initially granted for 5 years and subject to meeting the requirements, including the health and insurance checks after 3 years, it can be renewed for another 5 year period. Hence, parents can stay up to a total period of 10 years.

PARENT BOOST VISA APPLICATION FEES

Parent Boost Visa Application Charge (VAC) is NZD 3,000 (NZD 2,450 for eligible Pacific Fee Band), payable at the time of the visa application.

As this visa opened for application fairly recently, the estimated processing time is not currently available. However, being a new visa, we expect initial applications to be processed quickly.

WILL PARENT BOOST VISITOR VISA LEAD TO RESIDENCE

Parent Boost Visitor Visa is a temporary visa with longer duration and is in addition to the other temporary parent visitor visa options - "Parent and Grandparent Visitor Visa" or "General Visitor Visa". It does not lead to resident visa and parents wishing to live permanently in New Zealand will need to meet the requirements, apply for and be granted the Parent Resident Visa.
