The Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) (Subclass 188) Visa is permanently closed for new applicants from 1 July 2024. A new National Innovation Visa will be available by the end of 2024 for new business visa applicants.
What Happens To Existing BIIP Applications
BIIP visa applications lodged before 1 July 2024, will continue to be processed and the government has reduced annual allocation from 1,900 to 1,000 visas. Under the strengthened guidelines, existing applicants will need to demonstrate a successful business career and bring economic benefits to Australia.
What Happens To Existing BIIP Visa Holders
Those holding the provisional Subclass 188 visa will be able to continue on the permanent visa pathway and subject to meeting the eligibilty requirements, can apply for Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (Subclass 888) Visa.
