SKILLS IN DEMAND WORK VISA (SC 482 Visa)
Are you a skilled worker looking to work in Australia temporarily, as a step towards securing permanent residence? Well, the newly introduced Skills in Demand Work Visa (SC 482 visa), effective from 7 December 2024, could be for you. There is no minimum age requirements to apply for this visa (applicants can be of any age) and it has the following 3 streams:
- Core Skills Stream
- Specialist Skills Stream
- Labour Agreement Stream

Common Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the SC 482 visa under any of the streams, applicants need to meet the following common minimum requirements:
- have relevant qualifications and at least 1 year work experience in your nominated occupation;
- an approved business sponsor has to nominate you to work in your nominated occupation;
- have positive skills assessment in your nominated occupation, unless your minimum income is A$180,000 p.a. or you meet any of the exemption requirements;
- work only for the business that has nominated the applicant, unless your occupation is exempted;
- have adequate health insurance;
- meet health, character and English language requirements.
Core Skills Stream
In addition to the common eligibility requirements, applicants under the Core Skills Stream, have to also meet the following requirements:
- can only nominate an occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL);
- meet the minimum income requirement (currently A$73,150 p.a. until 30 June 2025) at the time of nomination.
Specialist Skills Stream
Applicants under the Specialist Skills Stream, have to meet the following additional requirements:
- can nominate any occupation listed in Major Group 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 on ANZSCO;
- those having occupations listed in Major Group 3, 7 or 8 on ANZSCO are not eligible to apply under this stream;
- meet the minimum income requirement (currently A$ 135,000 p.a until 30 June 2025) at the time of nomination ;
Labour Agreement Stream
Australian Government has entered into Labour Agreements with various Employers to sponsor skilled migrant workers. The agreements specify the occupation and other requirements to be met for sponsoring migrant workers. To qualify for the Skills in Demand visa under the Labour Agreement Stream, applicant must:
- be nominated by an employer to work in an occupation in the relevant Labour Agreement
Visa Application Charges
The application fee for Skills in Demand Visa for the principle applicant and each dependent aged 18 years and over is A$3,115. Application charge for each dependent under 18 years id A$780.
