This is a new visa effective from 16 November 2019 and replaces Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489 visa). This is a five year provisional visa providing pathway to secure permanent residence in Australia. To qualify, you need to nominate an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list, have positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation, score at least 65 points, submit Expression of Interest (EOI) under SkillSelect, be nominated by a regional state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a 'Designated Area', meet health, character and English language requirements and be invited to apply for resident visa. Selection points do not vary and EOI is automatically selected from the pool once nomination/sponsorship is approved. Upon selection, Invitation To Apply (ITA) for visa will be issued.
Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS) (SC 482 Visa) is for skilled overseas workers in selective occupations who have been sponsored by an approved business to fill in temporary skill shortages where employers are unable to find suitably qualified and/or experienced Australian workers to do the job. It is a temporary visa for between two years to up to four years and has the following three streams:
