INVESTOR VISA CATEGORIES

The Active Investor Plus Visa is not points based and there is no age requirements or English language requirements. It has 2 Investment Categories:

• Growth Category; and
• Balanced Category.

Growth Category Requirements

Under the Growth Category, you need to:

• Invest $5.00 million for a period of 36 months in acceptable investments (direct investments in companies or managed funds approved by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE);
• Spend a total of 21 days in NZ over the 36 months investment period;
• Transfer funds and invest in acceptable investments, within 6 months of receiving Approval in Principle (AIP);
• Meet health and character requirements;
• Include partner and dependent children in the visa application.

Balanced Category Requirements

Under the Balanced Category, you need to:

• Invest $10.00 million for a period of 60 months in acceptable investments (listed equities, bonds, property development, direct investments or managed funds);
• Spend a total of 105 days in NZ over the 60 months investment period (Investments over $10.00 million requires reduced time to be spent in NZ);
• Transfer funds and invest in nominated investments within 6 months of receiving Approval in Principle (AIP);
• Meet health and character requirements;
• Include partner and dependent children in the visa application

GRANT OF CONDITIONAL RESIDENT VISA

Conditional Resident visa will be granted, once the principle applicant has:

• transferred the nominated funds; and
• made the required acceptable investments.

Conditions will be removed at the end of the respective investment period, subject to the investments being maintained (36 months for Growth Category and 60 months for Balanced Category). Permanent Resident Visa will be granted upon removal of conditions.

APPLICATION CHARGE

Current application charge including immigration levy is NZD 27,470 (application charge NZD 12,070 and immigration levy NZD 15,400). For applicants from Pacific countries the application charge is NZD 21,590 (application charge NZD 6,190 and immigration levy NZD 15,400).

ESTIMATED VISA PROCESSING TIMES

Currently, 80% of the visa applicants receive:

• Approval in Principle within 5 months; and
• Resident Visa within 5 days.
